Course description

We tailor these lessons to the working environment of our students who deal with Spanish clients. In these classes, we help students communicate confidently and clearly in real business contexts, write formal emails, practise meetings, calls and negotiations in Spanish, and work on anything else they need.

Programme adaptation: The objectives and content are adapted to the student’s professional sector and their communication needs with clients and collaborators, including meetings, negotiations and business correspondence.

Entry requirements

To take this course, students must provide evidence that they have successfully completed level A2. The initial assessment helps guide placement and adapt the programme to their needs.

Grouping: private classes or groups of 2 to 6 students, with a programme adapted to their objectives.

Objectives

  • General objective: Develop the student’s professional communication skills in socioeconomic and business contexts, providing the linguistic and pragmatic tools needed to interact confidently, clearly and effectively with Spanish-speaking clients and colleagues.
  • Specific learning objectives:
  • Enable students to communicate fluently and appropriately in real business situations, such as meetings, telephone calls, negotiations and corporate presentations.
  • Develop advanced skills in writing and understanding specific professional documents (formal emails, reports, proposals and business correspondence).

Content

  • The content programme and sequence are structured according to the inventories of the Instituto Cervantes Curriculum Plan (PCIC), applied to the specific field of business:
  • Grammar and functional content: Reinforcement and application of morphosyntactic structures and communicative functions for the workplace (expressing conditions, arguing, persuading, formulating hypotheses and making formal requests).
  • Lexical and notional content: Specific business terminology, semantic fields relevant to the student’s sector and corporate vocabulary for commercial interaction.
  • Pragmatic-discursive and sociocultural content: Verbal politeness strategies, turn-taking in negotiation contexts, intercultural communication conventions in business in the Spanish-speaking world and adaptation to formal register.
  • Learning procedures: Techniques and strategies for self-directed learning and independently handling workplace communication situations.

Assessment

  • Diagnostic assessment (initial): A compulsory placement test (in person or online) and prior analysis of professional needs to determine the student’s profile and shape the course’s specific content.
  • Formative and continuous assessment: Regular progress monitoring through practical tasks based on simulations of real working environments, personalised technical feedback and academic tutorials aimed at optimising professional performance.
  • Summative assessment and certification: Achievement of objectives is assessed at the end of the learning period. To obtain the certificate of achievement and level, attendance at a minimum of 80 % of classes and compliance with the centre’s rules of behaviour are essential requirements.

The certificate identifies the specific course taken, its teaching hours and achievement. Passing this course does not in itself amount to completing a general CEFR level.

Course certificates are issued by Hablo itself. The progress tests and assessments required to obtain them are internal and created by the teaching team; they are not official DELE or SIELE certification exams.

Materials

  • Teaching and technology resources: In-house business-focused materials, simulated corporate documents and interactive digital resources integrated into classrooms (screens/televisions and live platforms via Google Meet compatible with the centre’s quality standards).
  • Reference textbooks: A selection of professional and business Spanish publications aligned with CEFR levels and the PCIC, purchased separately by the student and available to buy directly at the school’s premises.
